Welcome to Lavender House York

We made York our permanent home in 2018, quickly falling in love with the heritage, community and everything that this corner of the Avon Valley and Wheatbelt has to offer.

Since moving to York we have been looking for the perfect opportunity to realise our dream of providing quality accommodation as well as offering delicious food and High Teas in a Tea Rooms; and we found it here!

Cherie has had a passion for baking since she was a little girl, surrounded by people with the same passion. Her grandmother, Annie, was always baking in her wood oven and those memories remain strong more than 50 years later. Cherie’s mother was a qualified cook and ran a small restaurant for some time and her father has shared his love of cooking with her over the years.

Following a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease in Cherie’s mum some years ago, Cherie started putting her baking skills to use with High Tea fundraisers in Kalgoorlie, and so began a passion for this style of cooking, presenting and serving.

Our own kids are also strong in the hospitality industry with one formerly a high-end barista in Perth for 10 years, another is a Junior Sous Chef at a top WA restaurant and the third a successful wait team leader at one of the busiest breweries in WA.

72 Avon Terrace York is a lovely heritage building, constructed c1910, with high pressed-tin ceilings, timber floors and beautiful relaxing gardens.

We look forward to welcoming you as a guest at Lavender House York.
